Pišta - A little king looking for his kingdom! 👑🖤🐾 .fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-0 > .fusion-body .fusion-flex-container .fusion-imageframe.imageframe-1 img{aspect-ratio:2 / 3;object-position:23% 29%;} .fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-1 > Location: Foster home in Slavonski Brod, Croatia Gender: male, neutered Date of birth: 31.08.2025 Height: 50 cm / 15 kg Weight: Suitable for: Ambitious dog beginners .fusion-body .fusion-button Direct to self-disclosure .fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-2 > .fusion-body .fusion-flex-container .fusion-gallery-1 .fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-3 > .fusion-body .fusion-flex-container Pišta means "the Crowned" - and anyone who looks at this handsome fellow with his huge erect ears, his shiny black coat and his enchanting gaze immediately understands why this name is made for him! But our little king has a problem: He is still missing his own kingdom. And by that, we mean a loving home! ❤️ His story began anything but royal. Pišta was found in a village with an injury to his leg. Luckily, it turned out to be superficial and the young male has recovered wonderfully. He has been living in an outdoor shelter for about four months now and is waiting for his big adventure to finally begin. And one thing we can promise you: With Pišta, it will definitely not be boring! He is a cheerful, active and playful young dog who gets along wonderfully with his fellow dogs. When playing together, he shows himself to be pleasant and social. And he also gets along well with cats! 🐱❤️ But now comes the best thing about our black beauty: Pišta is an absolute cuddly face! 🥹 While other dogs may want to explore their surroundings first, Pišta has only one thing on his mind: human love! He seeks closeness, enjoys every caress and would love to cuddle with his favorite people all day. Physical contact? Absolutely! Attention? Always give it to him! A spot close to his people? That would be his personal jackpot! With his friendly and loving nature, we can imagine Pišta with committed dog beginners or in a family with children. Of course, you should not forget that our little king has not yet experienced life in a real home. Everyday routines, household noises and the dog's multiplication table will be new territory for him. But who says a king can't learn something new? 😉 What Pišta needs now is people who show him with patience, joy and a lot of love how beautiful life can be. People who discover the world with him, play together and then offer him a cozy place to cuddle. Because as big as his ears are, his heart is even a whole lot bigger! ❤️ 👑 Who has a place on the couch and in the heart and wants to finally give our cuddly king Pišta his own little kingdom? 🖤🐾 .fusion-body .fusion-button Interest in an adoption? Unbedingt! Zuwendung? Immer her damit! About Pišta

What life with Pišta looks like

Pišta is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Nordic Strays e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pišta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pišta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Nordic Strays e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pišta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pišta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Nordic Strays e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pišta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pišta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Nordic Strays e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pišta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
