With her sweet floppy ears, curious button eyes and loving gaze, she enchants everyone who meets her. Born on 04.05.2026, the little mouse is waiting to travel to her own home in September. Unfortunately, we don't know how Pixie and her siblings came into the world and why no one wanted to keep them. They were probably given up at the animal shelter shortly after birth. The employees there were very worried that the little ones would not have a chance without intensive care. That's why they asked our animal welfare partner Kristina for help. Kristina runs her own animal shelter in Croatia – and didn't hesitate for a second. She took all the puppies in, raised them lovingly and gave them the start in life that every puppy deserves. Today the little mice are healthy, lively and ready to make their own families happy. Pixie is probably a hunting dog mix. Behind her cute puppy face is probably a clever, curious and active little female dog, who will later love to use her nose. For now, she is enjoying the carefree puppy life: playing with her siblings, wandering curiously around the area, letting herself be pampered from time to time and falling asleep peacefully after all the exciting impressions. When Pixie grows up, she will be happy with people who are willing to discover the world with her. Mantrailing, nose work, dummy training, exciting walks or other adventures together will surely bring her a lot of joy and exhaust her physically and mentally. Pixie is looking for people with patience, love and a big heart. People who show her how beautiful life can be and give her the time to settle in, learn and grow into a wonderful companion. Maybe the little fur ball is missing in your life, which greets you every morning with shining eyes and stays by your side for life. 🤎🐾 .fusion-body .fusion-button Interest in an adoption? About Pixie

What life with Pixie looks like

Pixie is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Nordic Strays e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pixie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pixie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Nordic Strays e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pixie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pixie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Nordic Strays e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pixie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pixie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Nordic Strays e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pixie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
