Adopt Pixie

European Shorthair · Female · Kitten

Past: stray with a litter then abandoned because too shy and family illness The +: calm; curious; intelligent; gentle The -: very very shy; shy; needs a secure place ⚠️: placement without going out Back due to health issues of the people and the cat was too shy. Pixie is in a foster family since 06.12.25 to help her overcome her fears and progress positively. She is available for adoption. April 2026: here is the description: Pixie is a cat who arrived at the house on December 7th. Very timid when she arrived, she spent most of her time hidden and only came out at night. Over the weeks, Pixie began to progress at her own pace. In January, she started coming out of her hiding places during the day, even though she remained very shy. In February: she stayed in the living room in our presence, while keeping her distance. Pixie is a very observant cat, and she needs time to trust. Today, in March, Pixie is much more present in daily life. She follows us from room to room. However, physical contact remains difficult: as soon as a hand is extended towards her, she prefers to move away. Very hungry, now Pixie does not hesitate to come to the foot of the table during meals. It is a good way to build a bond with her. She has also made great progress regarding comfort: she now goes up to sleep on the bed, even in our presence. She is not yet at ease when someone approaches or gets on the bed with her. Pixie is a sensitive cat, who progresses visibly if her pace is respected. Video progress in foster family:

About Pixie

What life with Pixie looks like

Pixie is a puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at SPA de l in France.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pixie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pixie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de l handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pixie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pixie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de l will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pixie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pixie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de l early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pixie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
