Pizsi

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Pizsi, a little Pizsi, came to the shelter severely injured and is now recovering and settling in. We wish her a home with understanding people. This delicate creature named Pizsi was found severely injured in mid-August, probably as a result of a gas explosion nearby. Initially, it was unclear what exactly was missing and whether she would make it. She had deep abrasions on her head and could not use her left front leg, and shortly after admission, fluid was found in her chest, and her life hung in the balance. But both the approximately one-year-old dog girl and the team are fighters, and so Pizsi is on the road to recovery both physically and emotionally. Gradually, she is gaining trust in her caregivers, and as can be seen in the latest pictures, a smile occasionally steals her stressed face. Unfortunately, the slender female dog still cannot use her front leg, and it is not yet clear how the course will be here. We receive regular updates from our partner shelter and will keep you updated here. When Pizsi is ready to travel, we wish her a loving home with understanding, patient people who let her come and find security at her own pace. A friendly congenial dog would certainly be a great orientation and support for Pizsi. Have you fallen in love with the delicate soul and would you like to give her a beautiful home? Then please contact us. Please read the homepage in advance about the placement process and around the topic "dog". We have developed extensive information materials for all areas. Please note the "self-disclosure" field below and send us this filled out first. Then Pizsi's mediator will also be happy to call you by phone. Like all our dogs, Pizsi travels with an EU pet passport and Traces papers. She is then castrated, fully vaccinated, freshly dewormed, treated with a spot-on against ectoparasites, tested for Giardia and possibly freshly treated, with a blood test with organ values and tests for the diseases that occur in Hungary. In addition, all dogs travel with a suitable safety harness and with a GPS tracker including 1 year Premium subscription. Click on the "self-disclosure" link so that the PDF file opens. Depending on the browser, the file opens directly on the screen or must be clicked again at the bottom of the screen after it has been downloaded. You can fill in the fields of the file without additional programs and then click with the right mouse button in the document and select the option "save as". Please select the storage location, e.g. the "Desktop" of your computer. The file name "Selbstauskunft_Canifair_" is given. Please add your family name after the last "_" so that we can better assign the file. Please remember to enter the dog's name in the first field at the top. If you now send an email to the mediator mentioned in the ad, please attach the saved self-disclosure. This gives us a first impression and facilitates and accelerates the initial contact. Your data will not be passed on to third parties and will only be used in the context of a dog inquiry or the requested adoption.

About Pizsi

What life with Pizsi looks like

Pizsi is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Canifair e.V. in Kaarst.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pizsi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pizsi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Canifair e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pizsi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pizsi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Canifair e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pizsi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pizsi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Canifair e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pizsi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
