Platschi

Female · 5 years

I am Platschi, a loving and playful Chinese Three-Horned Box Turtle. I am named Platschi because I always splash a little bit when it's feeding time. Maybe not the most elegant, but definitely irresistible. 🙂 Water turtles have some conditions for their new home. They need a large pond that should be at least 1.5 meters deep. Like land turtles, water turtles prefer to live alone or with one to two other fellow animals. When it comes to food, they are not picky. They eat turtle pellets, like shrimp, stone crabs, and sometimes a bit of meat. When the days get cooler, they retreat to a winter quarters and hibernate at four to six degrees Celsius. A cool basement, a refrigeration chamber, or the refrigerator is best suited for this. Hibernating in the pond is too risky. Would you like to give me a home? Then contact my animal caretakers through the request form below or reach out to them directly via email.

About Platschi

What life with Platschi looks like

Platschi is a large adult animal waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Platschi far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

Note from the shelter: Requires large pond minimum 1.5m deep, winter hibernation at 4-6°C in controlled environment

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Platschi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Platschi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Platschi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Platschi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Platschi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Platschi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Platschi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
