Adopt Miley

English Bulldog · Female · Senior · 9 years

Dear animal lovers, Miley has been at the animal shelter Bayreuth since January. She is open towards people and finds everyone great who spends time with her. However, she doesn't quite know how to gauge her strength very well, as she can sometimes run into people in her excitement and bump into them quite hard. Clear rules need to be established that this is not okay and that she needs to tone down her temperament. Older children would fit well into her home, as she has never shown negative behavior towards people so far. However, due to her exuberant nature, we would not recommend younger children in her future home. Her leash manners also need some work. She particularly needs more practice focusing on her human, as MILEY's head is everywhere. Miley is not particularly fond of other dogs. If provoked, she can become very worked up and find it difficult to calm down on her own. With help from her human, she quickly calms down again and does not show any aggressive behavior like snapping. Her humans need to be especially careful around small dogs, as she tends to see them as prey. In her new home, there should be no small animals, as her sight of them triggers her strong prey drive. Miley had a cruciate ligament surgery, so quick, hectic movements should be avoided. Additionally, she is significantly overweight, which is not conducive to her recovery. Moderate physical exercise combined with mental stimulation should be the goal. We wish for Miley consistent but loving people. A rural home would be nice for her.

About Miley

What life with Miley looks like

Miley is a senior english bulldog dog waiting at Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Miley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Miley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Miley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Miley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Miley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Miley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzzentrum Ribbesbüttel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Miley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
