adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Poldi has found his home! His story: Our Poldi doesn't know how to write love, but he shows it with every gesture. At around 7 months old, the charming young fellow already has a lot of personality: he is approachable, open, charming—and also incredibly beautiful. Poldi is a true stroke of luck: a dog who not only complements life but enriches it. We can't really tell you much about Poldi's past. He currently lives in a Romanian foster home, but we don't know how long he can stay there. That's why we hope very much that he will receive his ticket out soon, be able to move into his own dog bed, and be spared the long walk to the shelter. With his black fur and warm brown accents, Poldi is a sight to behold. Currently weighing 16 kg, he is likely to grow to a medium size—perfect for adventures in nature and cozy cuddle hours at home. Which breeds are in the mixed-breed male dog can't be said for sure, but it is certainly possible that hunting dogs play a role in his extensive family tree. Poldi is an active, curious fellow who wants to be encouraged both physically and mentally. Long walks, exciting playtime, or maybe even dog sports—this would definitely bring him joy! At the same time, he is a big fan of closeness and attention and loves people just as much as the company of other dogs. Whether he is cat-friendly has not been tested yet. As a young dog, Poldi is at the beginning of his life path and needs people who will accompany him with patience, love, and understanding. Puberty is knocking at the door, and Poldi wants to learn everything important: basic commands, everyday training, and the dog ABC are at the top of his to-do list. A visit to a qualified dog training class with a focus on positive reinforcement could certainly be a valuable support and orientation. Additionally, a strong bond built through shared experiences will last a lifetime. Who is the person after whom Poldi so longs? Even an offer of a foster home, where he can discover the still unknown world for him gently, would be a great start for him. Many heartfelt thanks to Claudia and Jörg B. for taking over the nametag sponsorship for Poldi! As of December 20th. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 20.12.2024

About Poldi

What life with Poldi looks like

Poldi is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poldi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poldi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poldi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poldi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Poldi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poldi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poldi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
