adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Poldi is a beautiful young male dog with a special presence. Calm, attentive, and full of personality, he meets his environment with a pleasant mix of gentleness and independence. He is not a dog who demands attention loudly; rather, he touches with his quiet nature and his watchful, friendly gaze. It's especially beautiful to see how well Poldi has developed: he has already built up a lot of trust, shows increasing openness and curiosity towards people, and enjoys affection and cuddles more and more. With his shoulder height of about 53 cm and a weight of around 22 kg, the approximately 2-year-old Poldi has a pleasant medium size. His short brown-black fur and gentle expression give him a special presence that is immediately noticeable. Poldi is currently in the final stages of puberty – an exciting developmental phase in which young dogs still have much to learn and to solidify their character. He brings the best prerequisites: he is trainable, attentive, and ready to open up to his people. Wearing a harness and walking on a leash are now mastered well by him, showing how adaptable and cooperative he is. Poldi is generally well compatible with other dogs, especially with female dogs. With male dogs, it depends on their sympathy, as he does show that he knows who he is. With calm and clear guidance, this can be well managed. We do not know if he knows cats. Poldi's past was unfortunately far from easy. He was rescued from a family where he was not well treated. But instead of giving up, Poldi shows every day how much strength and trust are in him. His development makes it clear how much he is ready to open up to people if met with patience, fairness, and understanding. For Poldi, we wish dog-experienced people who take joy in accompanying a young dog through life and growing together with him. People who give him security, create clear structures, and lead him affectionately through the last pubertal phases. Positive dog training classes or individual training would certainly help him to gain more self-confidence and composure. Poldi does not seek a perfect home – but people who recognize and value his special nature. People who show him that trust, closeness, and a shared life can be beautiful. Poldi travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with his EU pet passport to his new home. Who will finally give this special young male dog the chance at his happy ending? Many thanks, Sabine! You gave Poldi his name! Date: 21.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank Sabine! Du hast Poldi seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 21.05.2026

About Poldi

What life with Poldi looks like

Poldi is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poldi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poldi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poldi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poldi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Poldi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poldi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poldi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
