Polly

Saluki Β· Female Β· Puppy Β· 18 months

Good golly Miss Polly Polly is now ready to find her forever sofa. Polly is an 18 month old smaller lurcher possibly a Saluki x Whippet . She landed with us from a stray pound at risk of euthanasia. Polly is a very happy little girl who loves people and dogs. Polly absolutely needs a home with other dogs! Preferably a male sighthound or a mix of sexes. She will not do well when left completely alone without company but will be content when she has a companion. Polly has been good with all dogs she has met out and about on walks. On the lead she can be a little giddy and will need work to calmly pass others. Mainly because Polly thinks every man and his dog should say hello to her. She has never shown any reactivity. We are sure with some guidance and socialisation this will settle. Polly can not live with cats or small furries. Polly could live with children aged 6 and up who are dog savvy. Polly adores everyone but can be a little jumpy and silly. Polly also shows no signs of travel sickness. Polly is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead and wormed, microchipped and spayed. She will also be rehomed with 5 weeks free insurance from Agria. Polly is currently located in Stoke-on-Trent and anyone wishing to offer her a home must be willing to travel to meet her with all immediate members of the family and any current resident dogs. About Polly

What life with Polly looks like

Polly is a small puppy saluki dog waiting at Greyhound Gap in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window β€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Polly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Polly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Greyhound Gap handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Polly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Polly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Greyhound Gap will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Polly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Polly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Greyhound Gap early rather than rehoming privately; they know Polly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
