Poppy

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 9 months

Neutered/Spayed? No, Poppy is currently too long but this will be required as part of the adoption when she reaches the appropriate age. Some dogs come into rescue through no fault of their own, and Poppy is one of those little souls who deserves so much more than the uncertainty she has known so far. 💔 At just 9 months old, Poppy has already experienced four moves. Four different situations, four changes to her little world, and so much uncertainty for such a young dog. Her most recent home lasted just two weeks. Sadly, she struggled to settle and found the environment difficult when things changed around the youngest child in the household. Thankfully, her family reached out for help, and Poppy is now safely in our care, having been responsibly handed over to rescue. Now, for the first time in far too long, Poppy has the chance to take a breath. ❤️ She is currently in foster with our wonderful foster mum, where she can begin to relax, build her confidence and learn that she is safe. She is living alongside dogs of different ages and is doing brilliantly. She has shown herself to be a gentle, sweet-natured girl who deserves the time and understanding to flourish. 🐾 A little more about Poppy ❤️ Temperament: A sweet, gentle and well-natured young girl who needs stability, patience and reassurance. 🐶 Other dogs: Poppy is currently living happily with dogs of different ages in foster and could live with another suitable dog. 👧 Children: We are looking for a home with dog-savvy children aged over 8 years, where she can enjoy a calm environment and interactions are appropriately supervised. 🩺 Health: Vaccinated and microchipped. She has recently had a full veterinary check, including a scan, and pregnancy has been ruled out. 🏡 What sort of home does Poppy need? Poppy needs a quiet, settled and loving home where she can finally put down roots. She has had far too much change in her short life, so we want to find a family who understands that settling in may take time. She needs people who will be patient, allow her to build trust at her own pace and help her gain confidence without putting her under unnecessary pressure. A calm household, a predictable routine and lots of kindness will be important for this little girl. Another friendly, well-matched dog could be a real bonus, given how well she is doing in her foster home. Most importantly, Poppy needs a family who understands that adopting a young dog is a lifelong commitment, not a temporary arrangement when things are easy. 💔 One last move – but this time, to forever As a rescue, we see the heartbreak of dogs being passed from home to home far too often. Poppy is only 10 months old. She should be enjoying her puppyhood, learning about the world and growing up feeling safe and loved. Instead, she has already experienced more upheaval than any young dog should have to face. We cannot change what has happened to Poppy, but we can help make sure the next chapter is different. We want her next move to be her last. No more starting over. No more wondering where she belongs. Just a family who chooses her, loves her and promises to keep her. ❤️🐾 If you have a calm home, a kind heart and the patience to help this lovely girl blossom, please get in touch with our rescue team to enquire about adopting her. Let's find Poppy the happy ending she deserves. 🏡❤️ Adoption fee: £460 (including microchip registration)

About Poppy

What life with Poppy looks like

Poppy is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Doggy Dens UK Rescue in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poppy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poppy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Doggy Dens UK Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poppy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poppy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Doggy Dens UK Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Poppy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poppy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Doggy Dens UK Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poppy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
