Porto

GOOD DAY, do you have a moment to talk about a warm home for me? ~ Porto Now look into those eyes and try to say no! Porto is an 11-year-old dog who has more energy and strength than many puppies! He doesn't look like a senior dog at all! In our opinion, he resembles a dignified, proud, black wolf. He is so beautiful that it's hard to look away! But, hey, don't be intimidated by his "intimidating" posture - in reality, he is a soft, love-starved lamb, not a dangerous wolf ;-) Unfortunately, his previous life was not very good, but despite that, Porto has a lot of love for people. He loves cuddles in the kennel and long walks together. He is absolutely devoted to his handler, very eager to learn and work. Actually, he approaches every person with a disarmingly trusting and hopeful attitude. Porto just doesn't like other dogs. We suspect that he simply never had a chance for proper socialization... We are looking for someone who will love Porto with all their heart, give him a home forever and never let him down again. Let's show him that life can really be beautiful! Kocha przytulasy w boksie i wspólne, długie spacery. Właściwie do każdego człowieka podchodzi z rozbrajającą ufnością i nadzieją.

About Porto

What life with Porto looks like

Porto is a large senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Previous difficult life, still learning to enjoy walks and human companionship

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Porto, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Porto?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Porto on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Porto if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Porto already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Porto isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Porto and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
