12-05-2011 - Still abandoned kittens: they wash their conscience by dropping them off with us!!!!!!!!!!!! Today a girl came to the animal shelter saying that in Olbia, in Via De Amicis, she found a box with these four two-month-old kittens inside. As soon as I saw them, I asked if the box was closed, and she replied no. I explained our sad situation to her, and I asked if she had ever come to the animal shelter, and her answer was no. People who come to bring us "gift packages" usually have never come to the animal shelter. The lady told me: I will call Striscia and I will show them to her!!!! Hope!!!! It would be a great favor for me, as I would then be able to scream to the whole world the shame of our city where people feel authorized not to spay their animals and to come and "wash their conscience" by dumping animals on us. We are in unique emergency, it is impossible to describe all this, I can't convey to you our helplessness. All these animals, dogs and cats, the result of human cruelty and wickedness. These people don't have a God and if they did, they have forgotten it and perhaps even sold it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You may find my statement harsh, but all this hurts us deeply.

About Poveri cuccioli

What life with Poveri cuccioli looks like

Poveri cuccioli is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poveri cuccioli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poveri cuccioli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poveri cuccioli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poveri cuccioli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Poveri cuccioli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poveri cuccioli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poveri cuccioli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
