Poxi

Belgian Malinois · Female · Adult · 6 years

Her history: Poxi has been passed from owner to owner, and in the end, no one wanted to keep her. She is a dog with a strong character who is not to be placed in just any hands. But if she is given the necessary structure, if her new people know dogs, and if they remain aware that she is a dog and not a doll, with a dog's reactions rather than a human's, everything will be fine. She is an extremely affectionate female: while her Malinois temperament may make her wary of strangers, once she realizes that no harm is meant to her, she is a perfect companion, even rolling onto her back to ask for cuddles! Obedient and calm outside the shelter, in her run she can be agitated and quite stressed. Poxi must be the only animal in the household. She is very dominant and may be dangerous to females and weak males. Cats? She hates them! She pulls a little on the leash, but with more regular walks and some training, she should learn quickly. She loves canicross and excels at it, as she is very athletic. A good guard dog, she nevertheless needs a real home, but without other animals and without children. She will be perfect, gentle, and protective toward the person who opens their home to her. Poxi should not be entrusted to someone without experience; in the hands of knowledgeable people, she will be an adorable companion.

FR·Show original

About Poxi

What life with Poxi looks like

Poxi is an adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SPA Grillon in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poxi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poxi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Grillon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poxi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poxi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Grillon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Poxi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poxi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Grillon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poxi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
