Prinz

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

The old lady, where Prinz was allowed to spend his previous life, is so severely afflicted with dementia that she can no longer take care of the animal. As the work with human and animal became too much for the caretakers, an alternative was sought. Through a neighbor, they became aware of our Gnadenhof and asked for the admission of the old young tomcat. Since we were fortunate enough to be able to place all our kittens happily, there was now a spot available for new kittens. And so, the move of the not-so-small "Prince" could now take place. From experience, we know that older females sometimes suffer greatly when they lose their familiar home. Some of them even stop eating, and one must watch as they close their lives... Fortunately, it was different with Prinz. He went into the cat box without suspicion and the car ride was no problem for him either. Upon arriving at his new home, he first took everything in and then had a light hunger and "called" for food. No, not every food is accepted, it must be pâté. But no problem, we have that in stock. After finishing his meal, he then laid down in his big snuggle cave to rest. The next day, to our great joy, everything was as if he had already been living with us for a long time. Since the former owner could no longer provide any information about Prinz, we immediately visited the vet. We had noticed that the young tomcat indeed has quite serious breathing problems. A blood test was also taken immediately, and apart from a thyroid dysfunction and slightly elevated liver values, everything was within the "green zone." Now he should get used to his new surroundings a little more and then another vet appointment must be made. A sonography will certainly need to be performed to find the cause of his breathing difficulties.

About Prinz

What life with Prinz looks like

Prinz is a small young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Kleiner Gnadenhof e.V. in Schwaan / OT Letschow.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Prinz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Prinz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kleiner Gnadenhof e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Prinz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Prinz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kleiner Gnadenhof e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Prinz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Prinz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kleiner Gnadenhof e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Prinz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
