adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Puk has found a home! His story: Bistrita, Romania. The little Puk is a true Christmas miracle. Found at around 7 weeks old on a street market in Bistrita, he was immediately taken in by a foster home in the area. For now, Puk found a loving home, but we wish for him a permanent home where he can feel love and security. Currently 14 weeks old, Anda describes him as very playful and lively. He is friendly towards both fellow animals and people. His first contact with cats went well, and he impressed with his playful nature in this situation. Living with another dog, children, or cats is also a possibility with responsible introduction. The little Puk weighs 2.5 kg currently and will likely remain a small dog as he grows. His new family should be aware that the sweet little one still has to learn the whole puppy ABC and is also facing puberty. Here, he needs people who can approach him with love and patience, and possibly even attend some positive dog training classes with him and forgive him for any mishaps. A dog training class can also be a great help at the beginning to strengthen the bond between dog and human. During puberty, he will also likely test boundaries and perhaps forget some things he has learned. We are sure, however, that Puk will also master this phase with the right people by his side. Our Puk is a very dear companion, and we see him as a enrichment for any family through his cheerful nature. Who would like to give the tiny Christmas miracle a forever home? Many thanks, Maren. You have named Puk. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vielen Dank Maren. Du hast Puk seinen Namen geschenkt.

About Puk

What life with Puk looks like

Puk is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Puk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Puk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Puk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Puk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Puk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Puk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Puk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
