PUMA

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 5 months

🐆 PUMA 🐆 📅 Born: 10/2021 📅 At animal shelter since: 09/2024 📏 Height at the withers: approx. 50 cm Puma is a female dog of the Belgian shepherd type. Intelligent, strong, alert. A working dog with bone and muscle. And very demanding. This is NOT a dog for everyone. Puma is looking only for a home of an experienced person - someone who knows the specifics of the breed type of Belgians and understands what it means to work with a dog with high drive and strong territorial instinct. She is energetic and needs a huge amount of movement and mental stimulation. Being confined in a shelter cage very tires her - her temperament needs space and a task. Puma is very territorial. She guards her caregiver like the pupil of an eye. If a stranger tries to approach the person she trusts, she may use her teeth. This is a dog that strongly bonds with one handler and requires clear rules and control of the situation. We are not looking for a home for her with children or other animals. Additionally, Puma can be difficult to handle by a veterinarian - she requires a conscious, experienced caregiver who will be able to manage her appropriately in stressful situations. 🏡 What kind of home is Puma looking for? ✔ Only experienced ✔ Without children and other animals ✔ With a person who knows the work with dogs of the Belgian type ✔ With willingness to work, train and consistently lead. In her case, introductory walks are required before adoption. 🌍 People interested in adoption from abroad must arrange their own accommodation for the time of meeting the dog. Puma is not "easy". But in the right hands, she will be absolutely loyal, devoted and extremely intelligent companion. We are not looking for a random home for her. We are looking for a guide. 🐾 HOW CAN YOU HELP? Every day we save abandoned animals. We treat them, feed them, give them a second chance - but without you, it won't work 🤍 🐾 Order at least one can: 👉 ❗ Become a virtual caregiver:

🐆 PUMA 🐆 📅 Ur. 10/2021 📅 W schronisku od: 09/2024 📏 Wysokość w kłębie: ok. 50 cm Puma to sunia w typie owczarka belgijskiego. Inteligentna, silna, czujna. Pies użytkowy z krwi i kości. 🏡 Jakiego domu szuka Puma? ✔ Wyłącznie doświadczonego ✔ Bez dzieci i innych zwierząt ✔ U osoby znającej pracę z psami w typie belgów ✔ Z gotowością do pracy, szkolenia i konsekwentnego prowadzenia W jej przypadku wymagane są spacery zapoznawcze przed adopcją. 🌍 Osoby zainteresowane adopcją zza granicy muszą we własnym zakresie zapewnić sobie zakwaterowanie na czas poznania psa. Puma nie jest „łatwa”. Ale w odpowiednich rękach będzie absolutnie lojalną, oddaną i niezwykle inteligentną towarzyszką. Szukamy dla niej nie domu przypadkowego. Szukamy przewodnika. 🤍 📩 Kontakt w sprawie adopcji: 503 171 865 534

About PUMA

What life with PUMA looks like

PUMA is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting PUMA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about PUMA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw PUMA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt PUMA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is PUMA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if PUMA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know PUMA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
