Adopt Pumba (reserviert)

English Bulldog · Male · Adult · 6 years

Pumba originally came to us as a found animal, but it turned out that his owner did not have a kennel permit for him. At first, he behaved like a small steam engine, seeming to know and understand very little. It took him some time to adjust to shelter life, and the stress there is still too much for him. Pumba is a very affectionate, people-oriented dog who prefers to walk through the forest with his nose to the ground, inspecting his surroundings or enjoying a cuddle session. He walks calmly on a leash, and even during dog encounters, he remains composed. But one must not forget that he has a lot of strength and that this must also be handled. Due to his breed, special requirements for husbandry must be considered. For him, we are looking for nice people who not only meet the prerequisites for the husbandry of a dog of this breed but are also sporty and, above all, steadfast. He still has a lot to learn, but he has promised us that he will be a model student. If you are interested in adopting Pumba, please write us an email.

About Pumba (reserviert)

What life with Pumba (reserviert) looks like

Pumba (reserviert) is a medium-sized adult english bulldog dog waiting at Tierheim Köln in Cologne.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires special breed-related permits and regulations for ownership

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pumba (reserviert), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pumba (reserviert)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Köln handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pumba (reserviert) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pumba (reserviert) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Köln will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pumba (reserviert) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pumba (reserviert) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Köln early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pumba (reserviert) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
