Pumpkin

Dachshund · Female · Young · 2 years

I can live with dog-savvy older children who will allow me time to settle in. I can would like to be an only dog & I don't mind dog-savvy cats. I would love a garden to run and play in! I can walk on a lead and will enjoy going on adventures with my new family! I have never lived in a home so I will need help to learn house training. I have been spayed and am ready for my forever home. 25-06-26 Pumpkin has come to us from a breeder to begin her search for a loving forever home. This adorable girl has a friendly and affectionate nature and is such a joy to spend time with. She will be looking for a home where she can enjoy lots of love, attention and companionship. Pumpkin is a confident girl and would be happy to be homed as an only dog, provided her adopters are around for most of the time and can give her plenty of company. She prefers all of the attention on herself, so she would like to be the only dog in the home. Pumpkin has been around children at her breeder and so we would consider a home with older, dog-savvy children. We have been told that she is fine with cats, although she hasn't met any during her time with us yet. She already walks nicely on a lead and harness and we think she will enjoy going on walks and adventures with her new family. She has never lived in a home before so will need help with house training and learning all about life as a much-loved family member, but with patience and kindness she should settle in beautifully. Pumpkin's third birthday is at the end of the month, and we know that her biggest wish would be to celebrate it in a home of her own, surrounded by people who adore her. She is a truly lovely girl with so much love to give, and we can't wait to see her begin the happy new chapter she so deserves. This dog can be homed with cats.

About Pumpkin

What life with Pumpkin looks like

Pumpkin is a young adult dachshund dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pumpkin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pumpkin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pumpkin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pumpkin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pumpkin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pumpkin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pumpkin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
