Adopt Pumukli-6

Female · Senior · 13 years

Origin Country: Hungary The pretty senior dog Pumukli sadly passed away on July 30, 2025, along with Bella and Bojti, as drop-off dogs at the animal shelter. The reasons for their drop-off are of a private nature. The three dogs surely had other plans for their lives, but we are very glad that we did not simply abandon them or send them to a euthanasia station. Here, they at least have the chance to find a new home. Unfortunately, the dogs were neither microchipped nor vaccinated. This is now being addressed step by step at the Menhely shelter. We are crossing our fingers that they will soon find people who will give them a loving home. The three dogs do not have to be rehomed together. Pumukli is a loving and friendly senior female dog, already older but not yet considered old, full of energy. She likes people and enjoys it when they take care of her and spoil her with cuddles. She would also greatly appreciate mental and physical stimulation, adjusted to her age, of course. Pumukli still needs to learn a few things about dog ABCs, but she is a smart female dog and will quickly understand what is expected of her because she wants to please. For Pumukli, it is important to have a family connection as soon as possible, because she suffers in the animal shelter. Pumukli understands large fellow animals, but she can be a bit dominant with small dogs. She would never let anyone take the butter from her bread. Pumukli now lives with the male dog Dragan in a kennel. For our charming Pumukli, we are looking for loving shepherds who are enthusiastic about German Shepherds and also give an older four-legged friend a chance. Pumukli’s greatest wish is to be loved, to receive a lot of care and security, to have a safe, soft place to sleep. People who love her unconditionally and give her guidance, to whom she can give her heart, and who take her on beautiful and varied walks. Pumukli should not have to live in a yard but be protected in the circle of her family. Is that too much to ask? Who has a heart for Pumukli? Unfortunately, Pumukli was not given the best care. She has mammary tumors, which, due to her age, cannot be operated on. Metastases were not visible on the X-ray from August 26, 2025. She is also heartworm and roundworm positive, and the vet does not want to operate due to the increased risk of anesthesia. Treatment began at the end of August 2025. Adult heartworms were not visible on the echocardiogram from August 26, 2025. Update from November 25, 2025: Due to a uterine infection, Pumukli had to be surgically neutered. On April 14, 2026, a voluntary, Hungarian helper writes: "Pumukli came into the care of the animal shelter in July 2025. She was already able to go for walks with several mentors on a weekly basis during the mentor days. Pumukli is a loving, friendly, people-oriented female dog. She walks nicely on a leash. She loves walks very much, is rather active and enthusiastic for her age. During the walks, she enjoys the cuddles and affection of the mentors. She experiences every moment of the walks intensely, with many exciting scents, impressions, and the loving attention of people. According to her profile, she gets along well with other dogs, prefers larger dogs, and shows dominance towards smaller dogs. However, due to her age, she would be better suited as a single dog." Pumukli is travel-ready.

About Pumukli-6

What life with Pumukli-6 looks like

Pumukli-6 is a senior dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pumukli-6, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pumukli-6?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pumukli-6 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pumukli-6 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pumukli-6 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pumukli-6 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pumukli-6 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
