Punto

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 1 year

Hello, I’m Punto! I was found and brought to the animal shelter. Unfortunately, no one seemed to miss me, so now I’m setting out in search of a loving home where I can take my time settling in at my own pace. I’m a curious tomcat who carefully observes his surroundings. Right now, I’m still a bit reserved around people and need some time to build trust. However, I’ve already made great progress with my key caregivers and now let myself be gently stroked—albeit cautiously. I’m convinced that with patience and understanding, there’s even more potential within me. I get along well with other cats, and their company gives me extra reassurance. As for my health, I currently appear completely healthy. For my new home, I’d love to find caring people who are willing to earn my friendship step by step. A calm home with a bit of patience and understanding would be ideal for me. It would be especially wonderful if there were already a friendly second cat waiting for me—a companion I could look up to. Due to my uncertainty, children should be older and understand that I need time to adjust. If you’d like to get to know me better, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the animal shelter. Maybe you’re exactly the person with whom I can finally start to trust. Your Punto

Dein Punto

About Punto

What life with Punto looks like

Punto is a large young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein St. Pölten in St. Pölten.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Punto, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Punto?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein St. Pölten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Punto on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Punto if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein St. Pölten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Punto already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Punto isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein St. Pölten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Punto and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
