Püppi

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Very shy, defensive (freezes), absolutely compatible with dogs. When you look into Püppi's eyes, you see a mix of caution and a deep, hidden longing for security. Her story begins in the mountains behind Thessaloniki. There, this little puppy survived alone for weeks. It's almost a miracle that she managed to survive this tough time at only 5-6 months old, without the protection of a mother or a pack. In mid-December '25, we finally succeeded in rescuing her. Currently, Püppi is still very reserved. The world of humans is foreign to her and makes her scared. When overwhelmed, she doesn't react with flight or aggression, but instead freezes (shock immobility). She becomes invisible and hopes the scary moment will pass. Yet beneath this layer of fear lies a gentle dog's heart waiting to be discovered. We already know that Püppi gets along very well with other animals. She strongly relies on other dogs and finds the support they can't yet provide. Püppi will soon travel to an experienced foster home in Germany! There she will be able to arrive in peace. She will learn that a roof over her head means protection, that hands stroke instead of chase, and that a full bowl is no longer a rarity. We are looking for people who know that trust has to be earned. Püppi is not a dog that immediately jumps joyfully at everyone. She needs: Patience & Empathy: people who don't expect anything from her and rejoice in the smallest progress. A confident only dog: since Püppi draws a lot of security from being close to another dog, an easygoing dog friend in the new home would be a huge help. Rural quiet: a hustle and bustle in the big city would currently overwhelm her. A securely fenced garden would be a dream. A meet and greet at the foster home in Warendorf is mandatory. They are all vaccinated, microchipped, and have an EU passport. They will be checked for Mediterranean diseases according to their age. See information on our homepage. Every dog we place makes room for one of those dogs that struggle through life hungry and emaciated.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Püppi

What life with Püppi looks like

Püppi is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Püppi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Püppi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Püppi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Püppi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Püppi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Püppi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Püppi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
