Adopt Purrito

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Purrito is a neutered tomcat around 2 years old. This sweet guy just needs some time to adjust but once he gains your trust, he really likes to cuddle. Purrito came to us with more cats because their owner could no longer take care of them properly. He has always been around many cats and is very social, so we would like to place him together with one of his friends (Sam, Tom, and Guus) or with another social cat he can bond with. He won't be happy alone. Purrito is not used to small children, as he isn't very familiar with them and things can become exciting quickly, so we don't place him with small children, but older children are fine. Purrito is not used to going outside, he can be placed as an indoor cat, although he would enjoy taking a fresh nose on a safe balcony. A very nice cat if he is given some time to adjust and to come out of his shell.

About Purrito

What life with Purrito looks like

Purrito is a small young adult mixed breed animal waiting at Stichting Dierenasiel Gorinchem in Netherlands.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Purrito far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Purrito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Purrito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Dierenasiel Gorinchem handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Purrito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Purrito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Dierenasiel Gorinchem will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Purrito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Purrito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Dierenasiel Gorinchem early rather than rehoming privately; they know Purrito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
