Quinn

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 1 year

Tomcat Quinn is looking for his forever home. Tomcat Quinn also came to us as a stray. He was fortunate enough to be discovered and reported together with his now pregnant mother. However, it took quite some time before we could secure Quinn at a feeding station, as the young tomcat kept slipping away from us. Eventually, we managed to catch him 🐾 ➡️ Towards people, Quinn is still cautious – he needs time to build trust gradually. Our loving efforts are already showing initial results, and Quinn makes small progress every day. 🍀 When it comes to other animals, he doesn’t find them so bad at all. Within a short time, we were able to start socializing him with the cat group in the next room. 🏡 For Quinn, we wish for a loving home with an already present, sociable cat. After an appropriate adjustment period, he would like to have the opportunity to be an outdoor cat, roaming through fields and nature (of course away from main roads or heavily trafficked streets).

About Quinn

What life with Quinn looks like

Quinn is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein für den Kreis Altenkirchen e.V. in Daaden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Quinn, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Quinn?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein für den Kreis Altenkirchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Quinn on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Quinn if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein für den Kreis Altenkirchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Quinn already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Quinn isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein für den Kreis Altenkirchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Quinn and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
