💤 THE 37KG GENTLE GIANT: MEET RADAR! 💤 Looking for a big, beautiful soul to completely steal your heart (and your couch)?Meet Radar, our gorgeous ex-racing Greyhound born on the 1st of July 2024! 🐾 Radar is a very large boy, but don't let his size fool you—he is as kind, gentle, and sweet as they come. He was a little nervous and unsure when he first arrived in care, but he has settled in beautifully and absolutely loves getting attention from everyone he meets! ❤️ Here is why Radar will make the ultimate family companion: 🛋️ Professional Lounge Lion: He loves his daily walks, but once he gets his leg stretch out of the way, he just wants to curl up in a big bed and sleep the day away! 🧼 Spotless Manners: Radar keeps his kennel completely clean, so house-training in his new home will be an absolute breeze. 🌍 Adaptable Boy: Whether you live in a quiet rural spot or a busier urban area, Radar is happy to fit into your lifestyle. 🐕 Great with Big Buddies: Radar spends his days playing in the arena with his brother, Rocket. They get on famously, so he would love a home with another dog of a similar large size! 🦮 Lead Training Progress: He was a bit strong on the lead to begin with, but he has learned so fast and is now much better and more settled on walks. Radar is fully vetted (neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and parasite-treated) and weighs a healthy 37kg. He is a truly special boy who is going to bring so much joy to his lucky new family. 🌟 🏡 Home visit and adoption fee apply. Potential adopters must visit our kennels to meet him (and bring along your current family pet for an introduction, if applicable!).

About Radar

What life with Radar looks like

Radar is an extra-large young adult greyhound dog waiting at HART Animal Rescue Ireland in Cork.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Radar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Radar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. HART Animal Rescue Ireland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Radar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Radar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — HART Animal Rescue Ireland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Radar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Radar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with HART Animal Rescue Ireland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Radar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
