Adopt Rakija

Mixed Breed · Female

🐾 Rakija – a young heart still waiting for its home… 🐾 Rakija is a beautiful, about 1.5-year-old female dog, who despite her young age already knows what it means to be sad behind bars. 😔 Every day she looks for a person with hope that today someone will really notice her... She is incredibly companionable, joyful and thirsty for human contact. A person is everything for her! Hugging, petting, and even more so, walks together, during which Rakija shows her wonderful, calm nature. A walk with her is pure pleasure – she is curious about the world, but at the same time beautifully focused on her caregiver. 🥰 In the animal shelter she lives with a male dog with whom she gets along very well. She loves playing with him, running around the yard and happy chases. This female dog would surely find her place both as a single dog and in a home with another dog. Rakija is the perfect combination of the energy of a young dog and a huge need for closeness. She will be a wonderful companion for an active life, but also a faithful friend for quiet evenings on the couch. ✅ She is vaccinated, microchipped, and will be spayed. Born 06/2024 Ready to start a new life beside a loving person! We are looking for a responsible, loving home for her, which will show her that the world can be good, safe, and full of love.

About Rakija

What life with Rakija looks like

Rakija is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Radom in Radom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rakija, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rakija?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Radom handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rakija on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rakija if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Radom will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rakija already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rakija isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Radom early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rakija and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
