Mixed Breed Β· Male Β· Young Β· 1 year

🐾 Meet Rambo🐾 Age: 14/11/2024 Breed: Mechelse herder Sex: male dog Neutered: No Description: Rambo came to us through a distance request from the police. In their current home situation, they had too little knowledge for a dog like Rambo, which made it unsafe in the neighborhood. The people could no longer go outside safely with him. Behavior & Personality: Rambo is a dog with strength and is certainly not suitable for everyone. There is still a lot of work to be done with him, especially when it comes to socialization. He is very good with people he knows (although he did bite in certain situations with his previous owner), but he is currently very bad with strangers. Interactions with new people must therefore always be handled carefully and preferably with a muzzle. For Rambo we are looking for an experienced owner, ideally a home with 1 or max 2 masters. Someone who wants to work with him. A job in security, for example, would be ideal for him. What does Rambo look for? A very experienced owner! A motivated owner who wants to work with him! Sufficient mental and physical challenge! A home without children. Can be tested with own dog. Type of animal: Dog Sex: Male Age:

Soort dier: Hond Geslacht: Mannelijk Leeftijd: 14/11/2024

About Rambo

What life with Rambo looks like

Rambo is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst in Belgium.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡§πŸ‡ͺAdopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rambo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rambo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rambo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rambo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rambo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rambo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pootjesparadijs Dierenopvangcentrum Zemst early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rambo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
