Ramon de Jamon

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Ramon was found hiding under a bed in an abandoned house, after okupas (squatters) left the building they had been occupying and left Ramon behind. He came to us in a quite neglected state and though he is a Spanish Waterdog, you won't see it now because he had to be shaved, to restart his fur. He was so happy to be at the groomers, and as soon as the long dirty dreads came off from his face, you could see his eyes open up and a happy smile forming on his face! Ramon is a bit shy in new situations and completely new people, but it only takes him a few moments to warm up and start trusting you. Just a minute later, you will find Ramon sitting his chunky body on your foot, and expecting scratches and rubs. Ramon loves to go on walks, and he should lose these extra kilos in no time, but most likely not in the shelter, as here he sadly only has 1 walk a day... Ramon de Jamon got his nickname from looking like a ham roll, and he does not mind being called like this, in fact he likes the attention! He also likes all the other dogs he meets, and even though he could also be an only dog with his humans in a quieter, relaxed neighborhood, then having a second dog greet him upon arrival, would definitely make it easier for him to settle into a new place. Ramon is looking for a calm household, considering that he comes from a very hectic and unpleasant life of squatting, so even though he is soft and kind with all humans, for the moment we are looking for a home without small children, to reduce the level of stress and noise for Ramon. He would be great living in an apartment, or a house with a garden, he is flexible for that. He is a quiet boy and considering his past, we believe he will be fine staying alone for reasonable periods of time. He is looking for a kind human companion to spend the rest of his life together with, a person who will help him also to reduce these ham rolls a bit, get into good shape for his senior years, and support him to grow back his curls in a healthy way. His shoulder height is 44cm.

About Ramon de Jamon

What life with Ramon de Jamon looks like

Ramon de Jamon is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Triple A Marbella in Marbella.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ramon de Jamon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ramon de Jamon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Triple A Marbella handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ramon de Jamon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ramon de Jamon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Triple A Marbella will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ramon de Jamon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ramon de Jamon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Triple A Marbella early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ramon de Jamon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
