Adopt Rani

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Soft Paws seeks a compassionate home. Rani was surrendered with her mother and five siblings on the street. The puppies were only a few weeks old. But our animal rescuer Rodica saved them all from certain death and took them into the shelter. The delicate Rani is now approximately 11 months old and has lived in a loving foster home in the Canton of Zurich since June 27, 2025. She shows herself to be a very shy and reserved female dog who is easily unsettled by many situations. New impressions, noises, or people often still scare her – but she is not alone: Her foster home gives her the time she needs and accompanies her with great patience on her journey into a new life. Rani makes daily small but significant progress. She begins to trust slowly and is strongly influenced by the confident dogs in the foster home. Her behavior shows: With the right environment and a secure only dog by her side, Rani can gradually become braver. For Rani, we wish for a quiet, stable home with dog-experienced people – ideally with experience in dealing with anxious dogs. People who know how important patience, clear structure, and loving consequences are for an insecure dog. A confident only dog is not only a role model but also an important support for Rani on her further journey. Who will give this sensitive female dog a quiet, understanding home where she can arrive, trust, and flourish? Compatible with:. This animal was abandoned.

About Rani

What life with Rani looks like

Rani is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Glückshunde Schweiz in Glueckshunde.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rani, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rani?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glückshunde Schweiz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rani on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rani if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glückshunde Schweiz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rani already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rani isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glückshunde Schweiz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rani and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
