adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Raya is still so young and has already gone through so much. Raya suddenly appeared in a village where one of our animal rescuer Flavia's friends lives. The people in the village were divided into two groups. Some threw stones at her, while others fed her. Raya was so confused that she kept bringing her puppies to a new place. Given that there were 11 puppies, it wasn't exactly easy. We can only imagine the fears the family must have endured. Flavia took the family in, and they are now in safety. And now it's time for Raya to finally receive the love she deserves, because she apparently didn't have it easy before. Her ears were cut off. Despite this, Raya still had faith in people. Raya is a very friendly and balanced female dog and in no way dominant. At 55 cm, she has a nice medium size. Raya is likely a mix of a herding dog. One should therefore familiarize themselves with the characteristics of such a breed and consider whether the dog fits into the personal environment. Herding dogs are not city or office dogs. A large property that Raya can guard would be ideal for her. Since the territory of a herding dog can extend as far as she can see, the property should be fenced to show her her territory boundaries. Herding dogs are independent personalities that require the owner to have the ability to be consistent and empathetic and to be able to deal with an intelligent, independent, large dog. They bring many great qualities. People who already have experience with herding dogs don't want any other breeds anymore, as they are despite their thick skulls very loyal and faithful companions. If you are looking for a herdi but no longer want the baby-sitting and teenage years, you are exactly right for Raya. Due to her cropped ears, Raya unfortunately cannot enter Switzerland. Raya travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She also has her EU pet passport in her luggage. For an adoption fee, she can start her new life. Thank you Kerstin W.! You gave Raya a name and thus the start of her new life. As of: 30.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Raya

What life with Raya looks like

Raya is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Raya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Raya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Raya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Raya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Raya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Raya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Raya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
