Raymond

Dachshund · Male · Puppy

Raymond - a small friendly dachshund male is looking for a home Raymond is a small, very handsome short-haired dachshund who has just left puppyhood. With his dark coat, typical brown markings and his pretty "eyebrows", he has a particularly charming facial expression. Raymond was recently surrendered to our partner animal shelter. Unfortunately, we do not know why he lost his previous home and what he has experienced in his young life. But what we do know: Raymond is an exceptionally friendly and people-oriented little fellow. As soon as he sees someone, he comes running up happily, would like to climb up to them and gives enthusiastic kisses. Closeness and affection seem to be the greatest things for him. We very much hope that Raymond's stay at the shelter will only be a short stopover. Especially for such a young and affectionate dog, life behind bars is not a nice place. Of course, Raymond will bring experiences from his previous life that we do not know. And besides, he is now entering puberty and will sometimes ask more often if that is really what is meant. At the same time, almost his entire dog life is still ahead of him. In the right hands, with people who give him time, are patient with him and show him lovingly how life together works, he will certainly be able to learn everything that may be missing so far. For Raymond, we wish for people who are not only seduced by his irresistible dachshund look, but are aware that even in a small dachshund a real personality is hidden. People who want to give him security, occupation, loving consistency and above all one thing: a home that he will never lose again. Here is Raymond's video

DE·Show original

About Raymond

What life with Raymond looks like

Raymond is a small puppy/kitten dachshund dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Raymond, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Raymond?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Raymond on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Raymond if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Raymond already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Raymond isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Raymond and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
