adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! We bid farewell to Reena…Rest in peace! My story: Hello there out there! I know there are so many dogs searching for a home, yet today I want to tell you about me. Maybe you are exactly YOU! my human and I am EXACTLY YOUR female dog. My name is Reena. I am estimated to be around 11-13 years old and I am approximately 55 cm tall. Currently living in Busag. I do not like it here at all, there is a lot of loneliness and I am always cold. That is why I wish for a warm home, with a cozy bed and loving people. I hope for that. I am still very shy around people and they currently make me a little afraid. Hopefully this will change soon and I can show you how great a female dog I am if only someone gives me some time to build trust. I know I belong to the "older generation" and not many want to give an old female dog a chance. If you give me a chance and stand by me with much patience and empathy, we can still teach me a lot, I may be a bit older and it may take a bit longer, but I am sure we can do it together. Maybe your human is reading these lines right now and we will find each other. All love, Your Reena For Reena we wish for someone experienced who brings patience and empathy for the older female dog. For her, every single day counts, and due to the ongoing cold in Romania, every day is a risk for her. She gets along well with her fellow animals. She does not know cats and they cannot be tested. A foster home or a mercy place would greatly help Reena. She travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to her new home and is of course allowed to bring her EU pet passport. Do you give the female dog a chance for a few more beautiful years full of love and security? Many thanks! Pía A.! Thanks to you, Reena has a name and a chance to find her family. Heartfelt thanks, Indi B.! You support Reena with a monthly sponsorship. As of 18.01.

Derzeit lebe in Busag. Vielen Dank! Pía A.! Lieben Dank Indi B.! Du unterstützt Reena mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft. Stand: 18.01.2023

About Reena

What life with Reena looks like

Reena is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Reena, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Reena?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Reena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Reena if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Reena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Reena isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Reena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
