Reese

Domestic Shorthair · Unknown · 2 years

2026.02.01. Reese (tabby) and Roven (black) arrived from the cat colony at the Southern Station. The two of them arrived from the Southern Station into our care. Right now, they are still quite reserved and distrustful towards people, so purring does not come naturally to them - every kind look and touch has to be earned hard. We are looking for an devoted, experienced and infinitely patient owner (or owners), who are not scared by the challenge, and who will give them the calm and time they need to open up. Although their socialization is still ongoing, we believe that with the right, understanding hands, they will also show their true, grateful personalities. From a health perspective, they are completely healthy, their FIV-FeLV-FIP tests are negative. If you are ready for a real "emotional project" and for laying the foundations of a lifelong friendship, Reese and Rowen are waiting for you! Important! If you like me, please only apply as the adopter if you are willing to commit for life and are a responsible pet owner, whose cat is not a garden decoration but a family member. Will you take me with you, as another family member, when moving (whether abroad, from garden to apartment, or to another rental), and ensure that if anything happens to you, I will always have a place and especially safety to live.

BEKERÜLÉSÉNEK DÁTUMA: 2026.02.01.BEKERÜLÉSÉNEK KÖRÜLMÉNYEI: Déli pályaudvaron lévő macskakolóniából érkezett Reese a Déli pályaudvarról érkezett a gondozásunkba.

About Reese

What life with Reese looks like

Reese is a small adult domestic shorthair dog waiting at Rex Kutyaotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires extensive socialization and patient owner due to feral background

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Reese, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Reese?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rex Kutyaotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Reese on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Reese if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rex Kutyaotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Reese already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Reese isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rex Kutyaotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Reese and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
