Adopt Reggie

Cocker Spaniel · Male · Puppy · 4 months

15-05-26 Little Reggie has come to us from a breeder after sadly being unsold due to some abnormalities with his eyes. We referred him to a specialist for assessment who have diagnosed congenital persistent pupillary membranes (PPMs), secondary corneal leukoma and suspected iris hypoplasia in both eyes. In more simple terms, he was born with some congenital defects which have given his eyes a cloudy and abnormal appearance, but no treatment is needed and he will just need monitoring annually. Reggie does still have vision, though it might be more limited than a normal dog and isn't in any discomfort from this. Reggie doesn't realise that he is any different from a normal puppy and is the most snuggly and affectionate little lad. Understandably, he was feeling a little shy and overwhelmed when he arrived, but it didn't take him long to come out of his shell. With time, patience and lots of reassurance, we are sure Reggie will grow into a happy and confident companion. Reggie will be looking for a loving home with adopters who have plenty of time to dedicate to him and who can help guide him as he grows into a well rounded adult. Like all puppies, he will need to learn about house training, walking on a lead and all the basics of life in a home. He could happily be homed as an only dog as long as his adopters were around most of the time, but he could also live with another kind and friendly dog who wouldn’t mind having a cheeky puppy racing around after them. We would consider homing Reggie with gentle, dog savvy children. Reggie will need to attend puppy socialisation classes and his adopters will need to agree to have neutered at the appropriate age as per the adoption agreement. Reggie is a very special little boy who just needs someone to see how wonderful he truly is and we think whoever adopts him is going to adore him! This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Reggie

What life with Reggie looks like

Reggie is a puppy/kitten cocker spaniel dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Reggie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Reggie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Reggie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Reggie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Reggie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Reggie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Reggie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
