Adopt Rei

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Rei is a young female dog with a big heart. She is about 2.2 years old, very social, open, and friendly. She greets people with warmth and curiosity, and other dogs with a relaxed and respectful demeanor. Not surprisingly, many call her a "joyful survivor." A cheerful survivor who has not lost her light despite everything. In February 2024, Reis's story began with a moment that no one could remain indifferent to. Animal welfare workers and animal welfare volunteers followed the faint cries of puppies. What they found in an abandoned garden was a shocking scene. Ten tiny souls, only a few weeks old, had fallen into a hole and could not get out. Some did not make it. Seven brave puppies survived. Rei was one of them. These seven were raised with infinite love, patience, and tenderness. They learned that hands can stroke, that closeness means safety, and that there are places where one can simply be a puppy. With kindness, security, and many cuddles, Rei was able to build trust. Her brother Kenzo and her sister Elsa have already found their homes. Rei is still waiting for hers. Today, Rei is a loving, delicate, and at the same time lively companion. A relaxed, friendly female dog who can fit into a family perfectly. She is looking for people who will show her that happiness is not just a fleeting moment, but a home. A place where she can arrive, rest, and bloom a little more every day. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Rei

What life with Rei looks like

Rei is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rei, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rei?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rei on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rei if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rei already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rei isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rei and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
