Reina

Podenco · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Reina is a Podenco Andaluz who came into the care of our partner shelter after being found on the streets heavily pregnant. She gave birth shortly after arriving, and despite everything she had been through, she proved to be a gentle, devoted mum to her five puppies. Since her arrival, Reina has been growing steadily in confidence. She now actively seeks out attention and affection, enjoying the reassurance of kind hands and familiar faces. She’s also good with other dogs and has quickly become a firm favourite with volunteers thanks to her sweet nature and quiet bravery. As Reina continues to blossom, we’re seeing more of the loving, people‑focused dog she truly is. She’s ready for a home where she can continue building her confidence, enjoy companionship, and finally experience the safety and comfort she’s always deserved. Reina will be neutered, is vaccinated and tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases. She is passported and available for adoption now. About Reina

What life with Reina looks like

Reina is a puppy/kitten podenco dog waiting at Hope for Podencos in Albacete.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Reina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Reina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for Podencos handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Reina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Reina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for Podencos will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Reina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Reina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for Podencos early rather than rehoming privately; they know Reina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
