Adopt Simba

Podenco · Male

Simba was rescued by one one of our partners. He was found in a local town after being abandoned. With no microchip and the typical signs of a discarded hunting dog, it’s likely he was simply left behind. Despite this tough start, Simba has never lost his gentle heart or his love for people. When he first arrived, Simba was shy and unsure of the world. He even used to walk backwards at times — a little mystery to us all. But with patience, kindness, and consistency, he has truly blossomed. Today he is a happy, lively, playful dog who absolutely adores human company, including children. Simba walks well on a harness, and he handles the outside world with confidence. Traffic, people, and everyday street noises don’t faze him — he’s usually far too busy sniffing, exploring, and taking everything in. His inquisitive, social nature makes him a joy to spend time with. With his cheerful personality and affectionate spirit, Simba would thrive in a home where he can be a true member of the family. He is a great all rounder who would suit most homes. Simba is ready to leave his past behind and begin a new chapter with a family who will love him. Could that family be you? Simba is neutered, vaccinated and tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases. He is passported and available for adoption now. If you would prefer to make a one off donation, please click below

About Simba

What life with Simba looks like

Simba is a adult podenco dog waiting at Hope for Podencos in Albacete.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Simba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Simba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for Podencos handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Simba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for Podencos will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Simba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Simba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for Podencos early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
