Simba

Podenco · Male

Simba is a happy young podenco boy who was rescued from the streets in Jayena Grenada. He has previously lived in a multi-dog foster home: Simba is a very good natured, relaxed boy. He is very affectionate and loves cuddles but can also independently play on his own or relax in the sunshine. He is very playful with other dogs in the foster home and energetic on the group walks. He is great walking on the lead however he can be reactive if he sees a cat outside. However, he was fine with the first fosterer’s garden cats. Simba sleeps peacefully in his crate throughout the night and is house-clean. He is an absolute pleasure and will make someone a fantastic forever friend. Simba is now in kennels at our partner shelter and we would like to find him his forever home so that he can get back to living in a home environment. Simba is neutered, vaccinated and tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases. He is passported and available for adoption now. If you would prefer to make a one off donation, please click below

About Simba

What life with Simba looks like

Simba is a adult podenco dog waiting at Hope for Podencos in Albacete.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Simba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Simba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for Podencos handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Simba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Simba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for Podencos will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Simba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Simba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for Podencos early rather than rehoming privately; they know Simba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
