RÉMI

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Kitten

Remi arrived at our shelter at the beginning of February 2026. He came from an association in Montargis that no longer had a solution for him due to a lack of available foster homes, and since he is FIV, no one wanted him, so we took him in. He is a sweet cat, he loves cuddles and gives big headbutts to get kisses! From the moment he arrived at the shelter, we quickly realized he didn't like other cats, we couldn't have known before because in the foster homes he was in, he hadn't met other cats. Unfortunately, Remi was already suffering from painful gingivitis, and because of the stress from the change in environment plus the fact that the place didn't suit him, he developed a severe cat flu. Remi stopped eating, drooled a lot, and let himself waste away. We isolated him in the infirmary where he could be alone for several weeks, since fortunately no other cat needed a spot. He received many different treatments because his FIV did not help us get him back on his feet, but being alone in a room and therefore much less stressed, Remi felt better and responded well to the care, he became active (he was previously very apathetic), he played, asked for cuddles, and most importantly, he ate! Remi regained a lot of weight in a short time and was much healthier. We were able to start relieving his gingivitis with cortisone once the cat flu had completely disappeared! But we can't keep the infirmary just for him, so as he was much healthier, the veterinarian agreed for him to return to the room with the others and to enjoy a larger space and the veranda... but the presence of others remains a big problem. Remi really doesn't tolerate any cat (nor dogs either). Since he returned to the room, we are therefore forced to keep him in a cage, allowing supervised outings where we bring him back in as soon as he starts a fight. So he starts to let himself go again, he eats much less than before. That's why, in the absence of finding an adoptive family, we are looking for a possible foster home for him for a certain period. Remi is adoptable under the Doyen Operation 30 Millions d'amis, meaning a fund of 1000€ at the veterinarian is allocated to the adopters for this little guy. Naturally, he has both gingivitis and FIV, so it's more difficult to relieve him, even with a long-acting cortisone injection, Remi can have pain but he manages well by eating small dry kibble and it's best to prioritize moist or liquid food. Remi is microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FeLV, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Sponsorship is possible: - Entirely online on the HelloAsso platform with 100% secure payment (monthly deduction). - Directly at the shelter during opening hours.

About RÉMI

What life with RÉMI looks like

RÉMI is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Refuge Le Chat Et La Vie in Louvigny.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting RÉMI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about RÉMI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Refuge Le Chat Et La Vie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw RÉMI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt RÉMI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Refuge Le Chat Et La Vie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is RÉMI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if RÉMI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Refuge Le Chat Et La Vie early rather than rehoming privately; they know RÉMI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
