Remig

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 6 months

Remig, a handsome Hungarian mixed-breed dog, has been a resident of the Kecskemét animal shelter since July 13, 2026. He was found wandering alone and abandoned outside Nagykörös. The origin of Remig and the reason for his abandonment remain a mystery. It is likely that he was no longer wanted and was left behind, but we do not know the exact circumstances. What we do know is that he had no microchip, and no one had reported him missing. He has been waiting in vain for his owners to come for him. We are holding out hope that he will soon be discovered by loving people and can exchange his life at the shelter for a home of his own. Although he has already experienced the darker side of life, Remig is an open, lively, friendly, and lovable young dog, a sunny and cheerful companion. He can be unsettled by unfamiliar situations, but his curiosity quickly takes over. He loves humans and is happy when they give him time and affection, and he has a lot of catching up to do. He still needs to learn many things from the dog ABC, but he is eager to learn and understand what is expected of him. Practice makes perfect, and he wants to please and work with humans. It is simply fun to spend time with Remig, go on discovery tours with him, and spoil him with caresses. He would certainly enjoy sports activities such as jogging, hiking, agility, and tracking, as long as they are adapted to his age and he has had time to settle in. We are looking for a dog-loving home for our dear Remig, where he can experience a lot of variety, enjoy exciting walks, play with dog friends, and run through fields and meadows, snuggle up in his own bed, and relax from an exciting day, where he is offered play and fun, spoiled with many caresses, and given enough rest. Who will give this young boy his time and love will receive a loyal companion for life. Who will Remig give his heart to? Remig is still too young for neutering at the moment, which must be done by his new owners when he is old enough. The estimated final size is 48-58 cm and the final weight is 20-30 kg. On July 30, 2026, Remig is 45 cm and 12 kg. Remig can travel from around the beginning/middle of September 2026 if he has found a home or foster home.

DE·Show original

About Remig

What life with Remig looks like

Remig is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Remig, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Remig?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Remig on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Remig if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Remig already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Remig isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Remig and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
