adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Reno has found a home! His story: Cluj, Romania. Sweet white-and-red tomcat Reno wants to draw the big lottery in his new adventure! Like many cats, Reno wandered alone around, obviously no one missed him and no one wanted to take care of him. Luckily, he met one of our helpers, who of course didn't hesitate for long to take him in. Now, he has settled well in his temporary foster home and has already found a small friend with the same fate, the little Claire. Reno is a very friendly, trusting, and playful little guy who will surely develop into a fine tomcat in the right home. He is also very well socialized and gets along great with his fellow animals. If there isn't already a playmate waiting in his new family, Reno is very happy to bring along his little buddy Claire. Whether and how Reno gets along with Hunden hasn't been figured out yet. The sweet red tiger has adapted well to life without a leash, as he was still super small when he came to his foster home. If the home is sufficiently cat-friendly with many scratching and climbing opportunities, it will definitely not be boring for the little tomcat. A plus would be a cat-safe balcony from which he can catch some fresh air – but this is not a must. For his travel arrangements, the great little guy has already been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. He has also already packed an EU pet passport. Who wants to bring an active and super-loving little tomcat home with Reno? Thank you Alessa, you gave Reno his sweet name and thus enabled him to start a new life!

About Reno

What life with Reno looks like

Reno is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Reno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Reno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Reno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Reno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Reno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Reno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Reno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
