Reno

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Reno - a gentle treasure who finally wants to arrive Reno is about two and a half years old. He was found abandoned in front of an animal shelter - sick, exhausted and completely alone. Someone had simply left him, just at the moment when he needed help and protection most urgently. Reno has shown from day one what a wonderful dog he is. He has one of the gentlest and most loving souls we have come to know. We suspect that Reno was beaten in his past. At every sudden movement he instinctively ducks to the ground, as if he still expects to be hurt. It is heartbreaking to observe. And yet Reno has not lost his trust in people. ❤️ He goes openly and friendly to people - even to complete strangers. In his eyes lies nothing but kindness. Almost as if he would apologize for being there at all. Reno doesn't want much. A gentle touch, a loving home and finally someone who tells him: "You are safe now." Reno gets along very well with other dogs. He is also exceptionally gentle and careful with children. Reno is a quiet, loving and content dog. He doesn't demand much - just the chance to finally experience what a safe home feels like. What he has experienced in his life could have taken away his ability to trust and love people. But instead he has only become softer. Now Reno needs a family that patiently shows him that not every raised hand means that pain follows - and that love doesn't disappear again. A family that gives him time to build trust. A family that gives him security. A family where he can stay forever. ❤️ Reno at a glance Age: approx. 2.5 years Other dogs: 👍 Good compatibility Cats: ❓ Not yet tested Children: ❤️ Very gentle Nature: Calm, loving, friendly and sensitive Health: No information on diseases currently available ❤️ Who will finally give Reno his home? Reno has already had to go through a lot in his life. Nevertheless, he has kept his big heart. Now his past should finally become the past. We wish Reno a loving, patient home, where he can arrive, learn trust and just be a dog. Maybe you are exactly the person Reno has been waiting for so long. 🐾❤️

DE·Show original

About Reno

What life with Reno looks like

Reno is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Reno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Reno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Reno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Reno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Reno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Reno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Reno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
