Rex &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 10 years

Hello, my name is Rex, and I’m a gorgeous Shar-Pei with a sand-colored coat. I’m super sociable, cuddly, and love to eat—I’m quite the foodie! I also adore walks. My recall still needs some work, though. No problem at all when I encounter other people on walks, regardless of their mode of transportation. I’m fairly home-loving, but I do need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. I don’t suffer from arthritis at all! In fact, I’d say I’m pretty energetic for a dog who’s around 10 years old. I climb stairs like a pro, and I’m also fine around cats—just as long as someone reminds me not to chase them. My ideal family would be a young retiree or a relatively available and very present couple, with or without children. I’d also like to mention that I drink about two bowls of water per day (in the morning and afternoon). I’m house-trained under all circumstances, though it might take me a bit of time to get used to being left alone, out of fear of losing my “human.” So, see you soon for new adventures together! If my profile has caught your interest and you’d like to meet me, please contact LPA-NF in Lille at 03-20-52-52-16 or via the email address we’ll provide you with to connect you directly with my foster family!

About Rex &#8211

What life with Rex &#8211 looks like

Rex &#8211 is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at LPA Nord de la France in Lille.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rex &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rex &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. LPA Nord de la France handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rex &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rex &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — LPA Nord de la France will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rex &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rex &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with LPA Nord de la France early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rex &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
