Adopt Rex

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

An active and loving boy is looking for a home Here we have Rex - an incredibly cozy and loving boy almost 5 years old who likes to be close to his human and be a natural part of daily life. With his cheerful manner, curiosity and nice work ethic, he is easy to love, and his gentle personality makes it quickly form a special bond with him. The forest and nature are favorite places where he can explore in peace, but just hanging out with his person and feeling closeness is equally appreciated. On walks he walks well on a leash and enjoys doing things together. He thinks training is very fun and shows great joy in learning new things. Responsive, cooperative and smart, he approaches new tasks with a nice focus and a desire to do the right thing. The dog has undergone a BPH test (Behavior and Personality Description) to provide a clearer picture of its personality and characteristics. Behind the charming and cozy manner, there's also an active dog who likes both long walks and mental training. Being able to use his head, working together with his human and feeling involved means a lot to Rex. In daily life, he is responsive and likes to cooperate, especially when he gets secure and clear guidance. At certain dog meetings, uncertainty may appear and then he may react, but with the right support and a calm handler, it is possible to help him progress in those situations. He bonds strongly to his person and finds it difficult to be alone - loneliness is not suitable for him, but he needs a home where he gets a lot of company and is not left alone for more than short periods. When Rex feels safe and understood, he really blossoms and shows his fine heart, his cozy personality and his strong desire to be helpful. The perfect home for Rex is with someone who wants a close and loyal companion to share both everyday life and adventures. An active life with walks in nature, joint training and time together would suit him very well. Previous experience with dogs is an advantage, especially for someone who appreciates working with their dog in a safe, calm and loving way. Rex would gladly find a home where someone is at home a lot or where alone time can be kept at a low level, because proximity and community mean a lot to him. With clear routines, secure guidance and lots of love, Rex will continue to develop and show even more of his nice sides. With the right person, an incredibly loyal, cozy and hardworking dog waits who likes to cuddle up after the day's activities and who really wants to be his human's best friend.

About Rex

What life with Rex looks like

Rex is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundstallet in Stockholm.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Can be insecure and reactive with other dogs, needs consistent training and guidance

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rex, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rex?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundstallet handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rex on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rex if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundstallet will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rex already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rex isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundstallet early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rex and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
