Adoptera EN seniorhund FRÅN BLACK DOG

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 10 years

Note that we primarily run our senior dog home - where dogs with great care needs stay for life. Adopting out dogs is not something we aim to do on a large scale - therefore we do not have a register of dogs on our website looking for a home. It is usually a small number of dogs, such as those considered "healthy" to need to live here for life - or those we feel would be better off in a different environment. We often post advertisements on our social media when we are looking for a new home for a senior, and it is not uncommon that we already have potential candidates who have been pre-approved that we can "match" the dog to. Therefore, many dogs are adopted before the advertisements - and you don't always see all the ones we have saved! Please feel free to submit an interest application without any conditions so that you end up in our register of potential adopters! We are completely unique in Sweden by only rehoming senior dogs, 10 years and older. When our seniors are ready for their forever home, they have been evaluated by both a veterinarian and a dog psychologist. This way, we ensure that each individual gets their needs met in their new home. Our dogs never move from home to home or from shelter to shelter, but they always come to our senior home first, so that we can take care of the dog's care needs and evaluate what home they desire. We consider this a serious process for rehoming dogs - and helps the adopter to be able to trust our knowledge about the dog - and ensures the match is 100% correct. We have permission from the County Administrative Board for both our physical dog home and for rehoming dogs. Since we do not use foster homes but receive all dogs physically in Småland, we have not applied for permission for large numbers of dogs annually. Instead, we focus on saving and rehoming those who have the least chance, and those who may not usually be chosen by larger organizations, such as the old, the disabled, the traumatized, the black. They often have a great care need when they come here and may have lacked care for a long time - therefore it is mainly our finances that determine how many new dogs we can accept - to ensure that we can always provide necessary veterinary care to the dogs before they move to their own homes. The reason we have chosen to do it this way is because as a society, we need to help these vulnerable dogs - if we did not take care of them, the chance of being adopted as a senior dog would be minimal. But we give them a chance that no one else gives them. Sometimes they come from death rows, sometimes via the County Administrative Board, or other circumstances where dogs have fallen between the cracks and are suffering unnecessarily even though they can still have a good senior life in a new home. We have a good safety net in Sweden with strong animal protection laws, but of course there are dogs that are in danger - both in Sweden and other countries. By adopting a dog, you reduce the total suffering for dogs around the world. A dog rehomed through us often comes with baggage or impairments - physical or psychological. Our lovely adopters give them a chance, even if they understand that trust takes time to build. Everyone who can imagine a senior dog is a real community hero!

How do I contact the shelter about Adoptera EN seniorhund FRÅN BLACK DOG?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Black Dog Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. Can I adopt Adoptera EN seniorhund FRÅN BLACK DOG if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Black Dog Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. What happens if Adoptera EN seniorhund FRÅN BLACK DOG isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Black Dog Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adoptera EN seniorhund FRÅN BLACK DOG and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
