Rex

Male · Puppy · 9 months

Ready, Rex, Go! This high-spirited, radiant boy is always raring for his next adventure. Full of fun, enthusiasm and affection, Rex is a lovable character who enjoys a good play session just as much as a cosy cuddle at the feet of his favourite people. Rex has been a firm favourite with staff thanks to his friendly nature and heart of gold. He's an intelligent young boy who loves toys, treats and spending time with people. While he can get a little overexcited at times, especially when meeting new dog friends, he's shown that with calm guidance and the right outlets for his energy, he settles well and enjoys relaxing alongside his human companions. All training that has been implemented during his stay will be demonstrated to his new owners by a member of the team. Rex is looking for an active home with experienced owners who can continue helping him develop his manners and confidence around other dogs. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home and is best suited to living with older teenagers. A secure garden, plenty of enrichment and positive, consistent training will help this clever boy thrive. In return, Rex promises endless entertainment, loyal companionship and the chance to watch a sweet, fun-loving youngster flourish into a friend for life. About Rex

What life with Rex looks like

Rex is a medium-sized puppy/kitten dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rex, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rex?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rex on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rex if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rex already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rex isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rex and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
