Rhea

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Rhea (born 10/2021, approx. 40 cm tall) was vegetating together with Gaia in the Turceni kill shelter, in a tiny concrete pen. Her everyday life consisted of confinement, hopelessness, and waiting for a fate that often does not end well. In mid-October, the two female dogs were finally rescued and brought to safety. Despite everything she has experienced, Rhea has kept her friendly nature. She is trusting, lets herself be touched, and approaches people with interest. Now a new chapter is meant to begin for this little dog. Rhea is ready to finally get going and discover the beautiful sides of life. She is looking for a loving foster home or, even better, her forever home with people who want to show her the world with patience and heart. People who let her arrive in peace, give her security, and accompany her step by step into a happy dog's life. Who will give Rhea the chance at a life full of love, safety, and beautiful shared adventures? Rhea is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and will be placed with a protection contract after a positive pre-screening. Departure possible from 13.11.2026. General note about our dogs: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in presenting each dog as accurately as possible. However, we would like to point out that a dog may behave differently in a new environment, with new people, new routines, and new impressions. This is completely normal and part of every process of change. Many dogs even open up more quickly at home and show sides that were not visible at the shelter at all. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but they are not a guarantee of any particular behavior in a new environment. They are intended to provide guidance and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter, and what potential lies within it. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and develop positively.

About Rhea

What life with Rhea looks like

Rhea is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rhea, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rhea?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rhea on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rhea if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rhea already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rhea isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rhea and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
