Adopt Ridoc

Mixed Breed · Male · 1 year

August 1, 2025. They found him at the branch office, the company employees fed him for a while. Get to know Rido, this beautiful red little boy who unfortunately also experienced the harder side of life. Rido was adopted as a kitten, but sadly returned to us because of his shy nature, he could not find common ground with the owner. He gets along very well with other cats, so a confident cat companion could help him a lot with socialization and regaining confidence. We are looking for a committed owner who is not afraid of the challenge and is willing to spend time and energy on Ridoc's socialization. His health condition is excellent, his FIV-FeLV-FIP tests are negative. If you are the calm and patient person next to whom Ridoc can finally open up, please apply! Important! If I have caught your attention, please only apply as an adopter if you are ready to commit for life and are a responsible pet owner, where the cat is not just a garden decoration but a family member. Will you take me with you, as another family member, when you move (whether abroad, from a garden to an apartment, or to another rental), and make sure that even if something happens to you, I will have somewhere to live and above all be safe.

About Ridoc

What life with Ridoc looks like

Ridoc is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Rex Kutyaotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs socialization help, shy nature requires patient owner

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ridoc, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ridoc?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rex Kutyaotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ridoc on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ridoc if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rex Kutyaotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ridoc already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ridoc isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rex Kutyaotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ridoc and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
