Rieke

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Rieke is the last surviving puppy of the brave little dog mom Rosetta (see www.sos-strassentiere.de). The small four-dog family was abandoned outside the city animal shelter. Fortunately, it was not the shelter where our animal rescuer is working to improve conditions and find a new home for the dogs. Despite this exceptional situation, Mama Rosetta lovingly cared for her offspring. Unfortunately, the stress was too great for the puppies, so two of the puppies died in the first week. Only the pretty Rieke remained. Unsettled by this poor start in life, Rieke remained an insecure puppy under the conditions of the animal shelter. But Rieke was lucky and was soon able to travel to Germany to a foster home. There, the pretty one was initially expected to be shy, but as soon as she gained trust, she was very affectionate and demanded her petting. Rieke also learned to walk on a leash surprisingly quickly and always enjoys going for a walk. Rieke is now a happy and lively puppy who likes to give kisses and cuddle with her foster parents. She also likes to romp with the existing female dog, which gave her a lot of security from the beginning. Therefore, an ideal new home would be a confident first dog, to which she can orientate. For the sensitive, affectionate, but also quite active Rieke, we are looking for a dog-experienced, loving and active family without small children, which shows Rieke the good sides of life and learns with her in dog school what belongs to a relaxed dog life in a family. Preferably with a house and garden and not in an urban area. Rieke was born around May 2025, probably remaining small, vaccinated, chipped, with an EU pet passport, and tested negative for babesiosis, Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, dirofilariasis and leishmaniasis.

About Rieke

What life with Rieke looks like

Rieke is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rieke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rieke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rieke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rieke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rieke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rieke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rieke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
