adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Rigatoni has found his people! His story: Rigatoni is searching for a loving forever home! We are looking for a suitable home for the approximately 10-month-old, neutered Rigatoni. He may be a Border Collie-Mix. With a shoulder height of 40 cm and a weight of 8.5 kg, Toni is a small, slender dog with great potential. Rigatoni is initially a bit reserved, but once he builds trust, he shows great curiosity and interest in his surroundings and his people. He can be picked up and lifted without any problems – he still gets scared sometimes, which is normal for a dog who hasn’t experienced much yet. With treats, Rigatoni is wonderfully motivated. His learning ability has already been impressively demonstrated: after only one day in the foster home, he mastered the command "sit"! Currently, he lives with three female dogs. He tries to encourage them to play and shows great social behavior when interacting with fellow animals. He also knows cats from Romania. Unfortunately, we do not know much about Rigatonis previous life, but we assume that he hasn’t had much to learn from. The little guy is not fully house-trained yet, but he learns quickly and is making significant progress. He is searching for an active home that offers both physical and mental stimulation. His intelligence and work ethic make him a wonderful companion for people who enjoy training, playing, and showing the world to him. Patience, love, and positive consequences are the key to making him into a balanced and happy dog. Our wish home: We are looking for a home that challenges and nurtures him and shows him how wonderful life can be. Toni is currently living in a foster home in Forbach (France), just 10 minutes from the German border (Saarland), and can be met by arrangement. Rigatoni is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and can be adopted for an adoption fee of 500 Euros. Many thanks Jennifer! You have given Rigatoni his name. As of: 26.01.

Vielen Dank Jennifer! Du hast Rigatoni seinen Namen geschenkt. Stand: 26.01.2025

About Rigatoni

What life with Rigatoni looks like

Rigatoni is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rigatoni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rigatoni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rigatoni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rigatoni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rigatoni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rigatoni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rigatoni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
