Rigsby

Lurcher · Male

Reasons why we love this dog… I am super affectionate I am silly and love to zoom around Experienced adopters looking for a fun new companion To be walked in doggie hotspot areas My favourite thing is: Cuddles and lots of love Adult only home (no children) Needs gradual introductions If you adopt Rigsby (or any of our dogs), you will be entitled to receive FREE behavioural support from our qualified team of behaviourists for any issues you might need help with during their lifetime. Further information will be given when homing Rigsby. Please note, this support is only available for dogs adopted from Forever Hounds Trust. Rigsby is an active and affectionate Lurcher looking for like-minded adopters. He has an inquisitive and playful nature, loves meeting new people, and will happily lean on you in exchange for plenty of fuss. Out on walks, Rigsby can find unfamiliar dogs worrying and will need a home that can continue supporting him with this. He can struggle with head-on encounters in busy areas and may become frustrated and react when passing unknown dogs too closely. With careful introductions, Rigsby can enjoy the company of other dogs and has made lots of sighthound friends since coming into our care. Rigsby is looking for a patient and experienced home that can continue his progress around unfamiliar dogs. In return, he will make a super loving companion and is sure to make his adopters smile with his silly ways. Needs to be the only pet in the home He would be best suited to experienced adopters who are happy to continue following his training plan around unfamiliar dogs Needs to be exercised in quieter areas (would not cope being taken to a dog park) A secure garden where he can play

About Rigsby

What life with Rigsby looks like

Rigsby is a small adult lurcher dog waiting at Forever Hounds Trust in Cirencester.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rigsby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rigsby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Forever Hounds Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rigsby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rigsby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Forever Hounds Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rigsby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rigsby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Forever Hounds Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rigsby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
