Adopt Ringo

Border Collie · Male · Adult · 4 years

Ringo is a lovely boy with so much potential. With patience, companionship, and plenty of opportunities to use his clever Collie brain, he will make a loyal and rewarding companion. Ringo is a sweet and affectionate 4-year-old Collie looking for an active home that can give him the time, training, and enrichment he needs to thrive. Although he can be a little timid at first, Ringo is a gentle soul who quickly seeks out attention and enjoys spending time with people. Like many Collies, Ringo is an intelligent and energetic boy who likes to keep busy. He can become overwhelmed and frustrated when left alone, so he is looking for a home where someone is around for most of the day and can help him settle into a routine. Ringo walks nicely on lead and enjoys the company of other dogs. In fact, he has shown that he settles much better when he has a calm canine companion around, so he may benefit from living with another steady, well-mannered dog following successful introductions. He will need access to a secure garden and a family who are keen to continue his training and provide plenty of mental and physical enrichment. Due to his sensitive nature and current stress levels, Ringo is looking for a home with children aged 11 and over. Ringo will need all of his basic training, including housetraining.

About Ringo

What life with Ringo looks like

Ringo is a adult border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Kenilworth.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ringo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ringo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Kenilworth handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ringo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ringo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Kenilworth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ringo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ringo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Kenilworth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ringo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
